Driving into the gates at Bella Collina in Montverde, Florida takes you into an entirely different world. Set on a majestic hill overlooking a peaceful lake is the perfect Tuscan Villa for any event. There are so many different spaces that can be used to create intimate moments and grand fetes.
Indira and Craig had hired us to plan their wedding “somewhere in Florida” as this was approximately equidistant for wedding party and guests. Craig’s family is from Lousiana while Indira is from New Jersey. They were looking for a venue with old-world class and charm, and definitely not tropical. It was a tall order, but Bella Collina completely fit the bill.
The bride found her dress at the world famous “Kleinfelds Salon,” and was actually able to speak to her designer (whom then sent her a sketch of her in the dress). She shipped the dress to Orlando, and we were able to take it to a fabulous dry cleaner (Ambassadors) that specializes in wedding downs (notice the layers of fabric that looks amazing).
Indira had chosen three outdoor areas for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. This can be challenging in Florida, but all parties kept a close eye on the weather. Although rain had been predicted earlier in the week, the outlook that morning was sunny and perfect (if it was just a tad hot).
Preparations began early in the day and continued through photography time (Thanks to Nick of SNi photography! -they had the sweetest first look that involved a ring-bearer escort).
A private photo session with just the bride and groom followed (We just love the photos with the Spanish moss!).
The bridesmaids (and groomsmen) were completely sweet and looked pretty nice as well. The mothers are two of my favorite ladies. The wedding colors were chosen with the colors of the peacock in mind. The ladies were dressed in the sapphire blue, and the turquoise, purples, and celadon and gold were brought out in the details throughout the space. To bring it all together were the custom created chalkboard signs (including the Seating Poster).
The ceremony was in the Atrium and performed by the Sensational Ceremonies Officant Harry Rubi with a great view out in front, though all eyes were on the bride and groom. Lovely decor was provided by Debra at Atmospheres Floral.
The cake carried the color theme with some modern elements. The masterpiece was created by Richard at Sprinkles Bakery. This confection was an almond cake with raspberry filling…absolutely delicious!
Something to note here is that this cake was set up inside the Ballroom (to limit the time it would be subjected to the unseasonably hot weather). We had it placed on a rolling table cart that we actually wheeled out just prior to the end of the cocktail hour (at the Reflecting Pool). Fortunately, Indira was able to spy the cake as it was brought out. I wish I had a photo of her face…she was amazed.
However, once everyone was seated and the wedding party was lined up…the sky open up and rain was everywhere at once. The entire reception area was soaked.
The staff of Bella Collina was amazing. They jumped up and started moving guests into the clubhouse while other staff members joined the PasP staff to move all the various elements (that were not drenched…poor tablecloths and napkins didn’t make it) into the Ballroom. Although we added about 45 minutes onto the cocktail hour, Indira and Craig were able to do their first dance inside the clubhouse before all the guests headed into the new (dry and air-conditioned) reception space.
All the guests got into the fun with the cigar roller, a favorite hobby of the groom. These cigars were rolled with tobacco from the Dominican Republic. It’s fun knowing I’ve seen the plantations that it came from!
Thankfully the rain cleared out, giving Indira and Craig a chance to privately dance under the stars (and cafe lights) on the outdoor dance floor. It was one of the favorite moments of the night. Followed by…
The grand finale happened at 10:30 when we had a 7 minute firework show that lit up the clear evening sky.
And finally, our sweet couple left through a line of sparklers and off into a classic car. A great end to an absolutely magical night.Vendors:
